Lower Post, BC: The Kaska Dena People

Vancouver Eastside Vineyard Church values First Nations peoples. We are particularly in love with the community of Lower Post, a Kaska Dena reservation on the BC/Yukon border that we have been visiting since 1995. You can get a sense of the relationship between our two communities by watching "A Healing Journey", a documentary on how Frances Carlick, an indigenous woman from Lower Post, found healing from the trauma of the Canadian residential school system through the Vancouver Eastside Vineyard church. For background on our Lower Post story, please read this 5-minute article by Gordie, "A Thirty Year Healing Journey" that includes photos, that was written for Vineyard Canada who are promoting this to all their churches.

To understand these issues better, we recommend the CBC’s 4-part documentary, "The 8th Fire", about the relationship between indigenous people and the rest of Canada.
