Hi everyone, Sunday, Nov 24 is an "alternative Sunday" and we are happy to be hosting an Arts & Crafts Event from 10:30am to 12 noon in the lower hall of St. David's. There will be different Christmas-themed stations for making Christmas cards, ornaments and other crafts! Arts & crafts supplies and light refreshments will be provided. We are grateful to Jenn Chu who has taken the initiative for this and we are expecting a number of visitors and guests from the neighbourhood including guest artists who can help lead us. Regardless of your skill and experience or lack thereof, come, enjoy, connect! Sorry, no Zoom option.

Join us for “The Sound of Music” Movie & Sing-Along this Saturday, June 24, 12:30pm-4:30pm at St. David of Wales. Doors open at 12:30pm, the movie starts at 1pm. Entrance is by donation. Audience participation bags (while quantities last), popcorn, juice, and water provided. Costumes welcome!
This event is by donation with proceeds to help low-income families attend church camp.

This Sunday, May 28, we'll be having a VEV Day Camp from 10am to 2pm just outside St. David of Wales. Our theme is “Practicing the Pause” and we look forward to taking a pause together to connect with one another and have fun. There’ll be group games, hot dog lunch, face painting, balloon animals, make-your-own-sundaes and more!

Our Lent, Lament & Listening Nights will be held every Wednesday night from March 1 through to April 5 at 7:30pm-9pm on Zoom. Click for Zoom link.
Please enter in silence. These nights will begin with 30 minutes of silence followed by communal conversations for about an hour as we name our questions, concerns, and griefs together in the presence of God, and seek his heart for our future as a community.
We will begin the Season of Lent together with Strathcona Vineyard who will be joining us for our Ash Wednesday service this coming Wednesday at St. David of Wales. We encourage you to fast on the day as you feel led in grace, which can be from other things than food, such as social media, devices, etc in order to be more present. The service will end with the imposition of the ashes. Please enter in silence. There is a Zoom option, you can email vev@telus.net if you’d like the link (same link as Sundays).

We’re excited to have special guest and friend, Andrew Nemr, share with us during our Sunday, January 29th service! The service starts at 10:30am at St. David of Wales. Andrew is an international tap dance artist and performer, choreographer, educator and speaker. He will be sharing on the topic, A Journey Through the Beatitudes, as well as blessing us with his dancing.

As part of Simple Church on October 30th, we’ll be carving pumpkins together in the lower hall. Pumpkins and decorating supplies will be provided. Come with your creative carving ideas! If you can help with set up at 9AM, please contact Kate. We will begin with a shortened service at 10:30AM with Gordie sharing about the spirituality of carving pumpkins. There will be a Zoom option. If you plan to join us on Zoom, we welcome you to pick up a pumpkin in advance and carve along with us.
If you plan to join in person, and you know how many pumpkins your family will carve, let Kate know. We'll have extras, so please don't be dissuaded if you need to make a last minute decision.

Thanksgiving is coming, and VEV is celebrating. Won’t you join us at 10:30am in the lower hall on October 9th? We’ll have a short service together, followed by turkey sandwiches and a communal charcuterie board (vegan and gluten free options available). Please bring one or two items to contribute to the board (cheese, meat, vegan alternatives, crackers, vegetables, fruit, spreads etc.) There will be options to eat inside or outside (weather permitting). And rumour has it that Gordie and Kathleen will be preparing their famous trivia game! The kids have helped organize dessert, decorations and activities. There will also be a Zoom option, which sadly won’t include pie, but will be engaging nonetheless. Support with setting up tables and chairs would also be greatly appreciated at 9AM.
We will be having an Intergenerational Service, paying particular attention to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (the Friday before, Sep 30). Frances (Ceen-ne) will be making a presentation to the church, and Stephanie will be bringing Bannock for communion. Wear your Orange shirts. There will be a Zoom option.

Sunday, June 26, Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, Simple Church + Work Bee: We will gather at 10:30AM at St. David of Wales for a Simple Church service (with Zoom option). Gordie will continue our "Reconnecting & Regathering" series, speaking on the topic, "Elijah and Elisha." Following service, we'll be having a WORK BEE. We'll be working together on various tasks inside and outside the church building from cleaning and dusting to weeding and reorganizing. May 27-29, VEV Church Camp at Camp Sunrise (Gibsons, BC). After two years of not being able to have church camp due to the pandemic, we are thrilled that we can again regather at Camp Sunrise 2022! Our theme will be "Re-Connecting," and we are looking forward to this very special time and place that we are setting apart, just to be together, and we really want to see you there! As always, we will celebrate our stories and we are again extending this invitation to VEV “alumni” to come and be part of a VEV “family reunion.”
